This was my seventh game project at The Game Assembly, and for this one, I really wanted to dive into rigging. I decided to take on the entire pipeline for the crow in our game. I worked closely with the graphic team to make sure the bird’s anatomy was right and where to place the edge loops, then I rigged and animated the bird.

Rigging a bird was definitely a challenge, especially since most of my experience is in rigging humanoid characters, and I hadn’t rigged anything in a while before this project. Thankfully, one of the other animators in my group is an incredible rigger and was there to help whenever I hit a roadblock.

In the end, we got this quirky little crow with IK and FK controls for both his legs and his head. I was honestly surprised by how useful an IK head setup turned out to be! Birds move their heads in a really funny way!

FM HPE 102.4 is a storybased game. I took a huge part in the narrative taskforce. I love making stories and writing characters so this was a dream come true!

Most of the finalized dialouge was written by me and my twin who have a bachelor in graphical storytelling. Its a story about how being alone is better than being in bad company. The crow might be flying pretty aggressively in the fly idle. But the player only sees him fly in the sky. The movement looks a lot more natural when he is seen from afar.
